A cleaner editor handoff starts before the edit
The edit gets faster when the brief, footage, audio, references, and review path arrive with a little shape.
A good edit does not start with perfect material. It starts with enough orientation that the editor can tell what matters, what is missing, and where the finished piece has to land.
The fastest handoffs usually answer six questions: what is the piece for, where will it live, what footage matters most, what audio is usable, who makes final calls, and what does final delivery actually include.
The useful version
Do not over-organize for its own sake. Put the material where another person can find it, name the important folders plainly, and separate hard requirements from taste notes.
That small amount of structure protects the creative part of the work. The edit can stay focused on rhythm, performance, story, and finish instead of burning the first pass on detective work.
