Minigami runs on your Mac. It does not send app-usage data to Film Grain Brain or sell personal information. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no ads.
Minigami is a macOS menu-bar app made by Film Grain Brain LLC (Columbus, Ohio). You can reach us any time at FGBSupport@proton.me.
To replace the standard minimize animation, Minigami asks macOS for two permissions on first launch. Accessibility lets it notice when you minimize a window. Screen Recording lets it take a snapshot of that window so it can fold the actual picture into a paper crane or airplane.
Those snapshots stay in memory while a window is folded and while Minigami renders its Dock hover thumbnail. They are discarded when the folded window is restored or removed, are not written to disk, and are never uploaded or shared. Minigami does not read your screen at any other time, does not log your keystrokes, and does not record what is in your windows beyond the frames it needs for the fold and restore experience.
Minigami has no analytics or telemetry. To provide local features, it stores preferences, named perches, window and app titles, and limited recovery records locally on the Mac. Those local records are not uploaded. The app may check for updates, which involves a basic request to our update host but is not used for tracking.
When Minigami is sold through a third-party payment processor, your payment details are handled by that processor under its own privacy policy. Film Grain Brain LLC may receive a record of the sale so it can provide a license and support, but it does not receive full card information. The Film Grain Brain website offers Minigami checkout through the hosted Polar payment flow when the product is available.
This site, filmgrainbrain.com, may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand general traffic. It does not build advertising profiles or sell visitor data.
You can revoke Minigami's Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions at any time in macOS System Settings, though the app needs them to run. You can remove named perches through the app's Perches controls. Runtime window snapshots are cleared when they are no longer needed. macOS manages local preferences and recovery metadata separately from the app bundle, so contact us if you need help identifying information handled by the website or a hosted service.
