We asked the battery for a privacy policy. It submitted lore.

No analytics SDK or crash-reporting service. Updates, licensing and optional AI use the network. Connection settings can fetch model lists and make account requests even with automatic AI writing off.

The app reads battery and system conditions, running and frontmost app names, and CPU usage to react or stay quiet. It does not use the microphone or automatically upload screens, files or an installed-app inventory.

Settings, character memory, line history, personas, connections and usage counts are stored locally. Saved AI API keys use Keychain only and authenticate requests to configured providers. Purchase-license records can fall back to unencrypted preferences if secure storage fails. Successful migration removes that copy. ChatGPT sign-in credentials use plaintext files protected by access permissions in the app-owned PleadingBattery/PleadingBatteryChatGPT namespace, including auth.json, not encrypted Keychain storage. No automatic migration occurs, and remote tokens are not revoked by local Disconnect.

Chat stays in memory until cleared or you quit, without a saved transcript. Generated lines are temporarily cached. Applying AI settings or exiting clears them. Optional subtitles appear in Notification Center. macOS supplies the voice.

We supplied the need for applause.

Update checks are configured to contact our update address, not the Sparkle project. When that service is available, requests disclose IP address and app and macOS versions to its hosting provider. Purchase-key verification sends your key and purchase-configuration identifiers to Polar over HTTPS, without Mac names or device-seat allocation.

Optional AI goes directly to your selected provider endpoints, not a Film Grain Brain AI relay. A configured backup can receive requests after primary failure. Automatic lines send persona instructions and coarse battery or event context, not exact percentages, app names, CPU samples or chat history. Anything you put in persona instructions goes too.

Talk to Battery sends persona instructions and names, actual battery context and recent messages. Information you type and requested action results, including app names or CPU readings, can go too. Mac actions require local confirmation. Test Persona sends saved instructions and synthetic battery context when AI writing is enabled.

Model-list requests use authentication without persona or battery context. ChatGPT sign-in, refresh, model lists and generation contact OpenAI with account, authentication and request metadata. Turning AI off cancels generation, not catalogue or account requests.

Providers control retention, training and billing. Free and paid plans can differ. Check your selected service policies. Provider fees and subscriptions are separate. Local services stay local only if their configuration and model do.

Polar handles payments under its privacy policy. We use purchase email, order identifiers and correspondence for support and refunds. Our email service processes messages. Never email keys, passwords or payment credentials.

Preferences and exports remain until removed. Uninstall explains cleanup. Successful ChatGPT Disconnect deletes its local credentials, not remote tokens. Failures are reported. Local deletion or refunds do not erase provider records or cancel subscriptions. Ask support about records and deletion. Legal recordkeeping may limit deletion.

Depending on applicable law, you may access, correct, delete or copy data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where relied upon, or complain to a regulator. Reasonable identity verification may be needed, never keys or payment credentials.

The app is not directed at children under 13. Contact us about a child’s information. Material changes will be noted here and in the changelog. This is not blanket processing or marketing consent.
